Historic Old Village, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina
This harbor front home is located in historic Old Village Mt. Pleasant, a stately community with quiet streets lined with majestic oaks, where bicycles and golf carts are the primary mode of transportation and gentle breezes can be felt coming off of the Charleston Harbor. Sea Island Builders performed a complete overhaul of all interior spaces, as well as demolished an old shed structure to make way for a new two-car garage, and significant hard scape work.
The clients wanted to transform a dated 2000's era home into warm, inviting and stylish space designed for modern family living and entertaining. This included removing load bearing walls and installing large 40' steel beams to support the new open concept floor plan. Additionally, all cabinetry, counter tops, floors, plumbing, and lighting were removed throughout the home and updated with modern selections in line with the clients’ style. Impact rated doors and windows were installed throughout. The door openings and headers were enlarged and raised to accommodate the new larger doors which allow for unparalleled views of the picturesque Charleston Harbor.
The backyard had an in-ground pool and a severe slope. The clients wanted a more maintenance-free space, so the pool was removed, a large brick retaining wall was constructed and astro turf was installed to give the clients a beautiful uniform yard virtually maintenance-free.
