1102 Middle St, Sullivan's Island
This Herlong Architects & interiors collaboration involved an extensive raising of, renovation to, and addition onto this historic home on the south end of Sullivan's island, requiring meticulous care of the historic structure (circa 1890 originally built by James Cosgrove). A few highlights include repurposing of existing heart pine floors and salvaging and reusing original clay fired brick. Ground floor Sapele windows were reproduced to the same architectural standards of the other historic windows already installed.
A beautiful Primary Suite was built using same “PickWick Paneling” that was installed on the original walls amenities including a huge walk-in closet, luxury ensuite bathroom with marble floors and shower tile, and an elevator up from the ground level. We also added a gorgeous dining room with views of the marvelously crafted grounds of the property, a lovely pass-through wet bar leading to a grand den with a gorgeous fireplace and towering ceilings lined with beautifully stained oak.
The landscape and pool, designed by Remark Landscape Architects, include layered gardens and a lovely surprises around every corner of the ½ acre property, including a gorgeous pool with a travertine surround that leads under the home to a well apportioned bar and TV area, a beautiful, bluestone sitting area in front of a grand fireplace and chimney, and a front yard with gardens fit for a royal wedding.
