Sullivans Island Renovation
Everyone has been there. Everyone has a dream. For two happy couples who decided to hire Sea Island Builders, this dream is now a reality. This beautiful Sullivans Island renovation and addition has been dubbed the dream "Coastal Cottage". Here is a quick synopsis of the project, the preplanning, the construction, and the finished island renovation.
This Sullivans Island renovation was completed by Sea Island Builders in the Winter of 2011. The clients worked with Beau Clowney to come up with the design. The main elements of this Sullivans Island renovation project include adding an above ground concrete pool, adding a small laundry room, converting the old laundry room into a fully stocked bar and small kitchen, and last but not least, transforming the unfinished attic space into a fully functional living area equipped with its own bathroom. Let's start by looking at the exterior of this island remodel. The picture below shows the above ground pool deck and pool addition with a travertine deck.

Perhaps the most amazing part of this Sullivans Island renovation is the complete transformation of the attic space. Before, as you can see in the picture below, the ceiling was low and there was no real space to create any type of sizable living area.
...And the After. Note the huge shed dormer that was built into the roofline and also noticed that the ceiling height has been raised over a foot to make this a very comfortable and beautiful living space. The walls are custom milled shiplap with an oil base paint.
